Called "Zombie Apocalypse," the exercise follows the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's campaign launched last year that urged Americans to get ready for a zombie apocalypse, as part of a catchy, public health message about the importance of emergency preparedness.

Defense analyst Loren Thompson agrees. "The defining characteristics of zombies are that they're unpredictable and resilient. That may be a good way to prepare for what the Pentagon calls asymmetric warfare," Thompson said.

San Diego-based Halo Corp. founded by former military special ops and intelligence personnel has been hosting the annual counterterrorism summit since 2006. The five-day Halo counterterrorism summit is an approved training event by the Homeland Security Grant Program and the Urban Areas Security Initiative, which provide funds to pay for the coursework on everything from the battleground tactics to combat wounds to cybersecurity. The summit has a $1,000 registration fee and runs Oct. 29-Nov 2.

Armored Zombies catch Carl and Beth flirting

Carl Grimes has officially entered puberty and fans of The Walking Dead will probably never have to ask "Where is Carl?" ever again. For the first time in the history of the show Carl stays put and sniffs around Beth for the entire episode. Unfortunately for the poor kid Beth is a full blown innocent hottie and Dad just found an even half dozen male prisoners. Carl is going to get a lesson in getting Punked. 

 In other news, 

• We saw the group work like a team to raid a house, dodge a zombie mob and gain entry into the prison cell block. 
• Darryl and Carol are still flirting. 
• Beth and Maggie Green can sing like they are on X-factor.
• I think the younger Mr. Dixon may be a bit gun shy with the opposite sex. 
• Rick does not like dog food. 
• Headshots at 50m with homemade silencers. NO!!!
• Lori is very far along in her pregnancy and is still a selfish bitch.
• Herschel is now officially and completely replaced Dale from the comic books. 
• Poor Scott Wilson has no clue what will happen to his other leg.
• Michonne is a confirmed bad ass with a katana.
• Andrea is suffering from an unknown illness. My guess is ANDREA IS PREGNANT WITH SHANE'S BABY. Since she goes to great pains to hide under that blanket in Georgia heat.
• Armored Boss Zombies exist in The Walking Dead. The armored zombies were a fun surprise and Maggie rocked figuring out a way to kill one.

Season 3 Starts Tonight, The Walking Dead

With the NFL football season settled in and baseball winding into the MLB post season it is time to survive the apocalypse with Rick Grimes, Carl and Daryl Dixon. AMC has promised more of everything this season. More Zombies, more combat, more high stress, more Daryl and Merl as well as a hot new Becca. Maggie's little sister looks like she is ready to do what it takes to survive in her tight fitting outfit that includes thigh high combat boots. Get ready it is coming!!! FYI, I don't think the comic books can be considered complete cannon since Kirkman has said they are separate mutually supporting story arcs.
