GET A KIT, MAKE A PLAN, BE PREPARED!!! Is the official stance of the US government?
Zombies just like the AMC Walking Dead TV show are a huge hit with people and the federal government is tying into the viral movement with its own social media campaign.
FEMA uses its monthly conference call to discuss ZOMBIE Survival?

When the US Government's HSA, FEMA and CDC not only acknowledge but encourage preparation in response to a Zombie uprising my skin starts crawling... Especially when the subtext of the article is that the government will not be able to help for at least 10 days and make no mention of weapons, ammunition or self defense. As in every Romero genre story the government wants you to hide in the basement until "They" can help. Granted there is a bit of liability to worry about but would it hurt to define "Looting", "Property Rights", "Self Defense" and "Deadly Force" in declared emergency situations?

National Preparedness Month: Pledge to Prepare - Homeland Security

WASHINGTON (AP) -- "The zombies are coming!" the Homeland Security Department says.
Tongue firmly in cheek, the government urged citizens Thursday to prepare for a zombie apocalypse, part of a public health campaign to encourage better preparation for genuine disasters and emergencies. The theory: If you're prepared for a zombie attack, the same preparations will help during a hurricane, pandemic, earthquake or terrorist attack.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency hosted an online seminar for its Citizen Corps organization to help emergency planners better prepare their communities for disaster. The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last year first launched a zombie apocalypse social media campaign for the same purposes.
Emergency planners were encouraged to use the threat of zombies - the flesh-hungry, walking dead - to encourage citizens to prepare for disasters. Organizers also noted the relative proximity to Halloween.
Among the government's recommendations were having an emergency evacuation plan and a change of clothes, plus keeping on hand fresh water, extra medications and emergency flashlights.
A few of the government's suggestions tracked closely with some of the 33 rules for dealing with zombies popularized in the 2009 movie "Zombieland," which included "always carry a change of underwear" and "when in doubt, know your way out."

Hunger Games Audio Drama, a review

Based in the "The Hunger Games""Hunger Games" universe listeners can fill the void between movies by enjoying the trials and tribulations of Panem's finest young players. The podcast, aka audio drama, is an unauthorized adaptation of the "Hunger Games" trilogy told in the form of a weekly news cast. This version is professionally produced and written to Suzanne Collins original vision as possible. Jennifer Lawrence, surprisingly a Kentucky native, fans may be confused by Katniss' southern accent instead of Lawrence's accent-free performance.

Mass Shooting at Dark Knight Rises

14 reported killed with up to 50 injured by an "Active Shooter" inside a Denver Colorado suburb movie theater showing the Dark Knight Rises. According to an eye witness report on Denver channel 9 a young theater employee pulled the fire alarm and screamed for people to run possibly saving dozens of lives. The masked gunman wearing black combat gear including a gas mask and kevlar helmet threw at least 2 tear gas grenades into the theater and fired a shotgun into the crowd. The gunman apparently kicked in the theater doors then moved through the theater shooting anyone that remained.
Police are reporting at least one person is in custody.

(Reuters) - A masked gunman shot dead 10 people and wounded 30 to 40 others at a showing of new Batman movie "The Dark Knight Rises" at a movie theater in the U.S. city of Denver, local radio station KOA reported on Friday, citing witnesses. The radio station said a figure in a gas mask had opened fire at the showing in a mall in the suburb of Aurora and set off a smoke or tear gas bomb. It said initial police estimates were of 30-40 injured.

Brad Pitt not talking about World War Z

Our hopes for a great film adaptation of Max Brook's "World War Z", the definitive modern day Zombie survival novel, appear to be rapidly evaporating. Director Marc Forster and Executive Producer/Star Brad Pitt appear to be on "Non-speaking" terms. Using Paramount studio executives as 'go-betweens' the troubled $170 million movie needs at least 3 more weeks of shooting and the key decision makers are not even returning each others calls. News has leaked that Forster lost control of the production and the film's ending needs to be completely re-shot on location in Hungary. Even if Forster is completely replaced union rules state he must be on scene for the shooting AND will get director credit.

"Production sources tell Vulture that it is Pitt, not Forster, who has final approval over all the new pages generated by whatever writers work on the project over the next three weeks. And the communication breakdown between actor and director over how to reshoot it severely limits Paramount’s ability to foresee an end to production. Until the pages are approved, a budget cannot be calculated. And until a budget is tallied, the amount of time that will be spent to make the changes can’t be determined, either."

The long awaited film has been plagued by a string of missteps and mistakes which have all been laid at the feet of its inexperienced Director Marc Forster:

• Budapest authorities seized the prop weapons during shooting. Apparently nobody checked to see if it was ok to dress actors up in SWAT/Military gear armed with functional automatic weapons. Hungary is known for its very stringent gun control regulations.
• Babylon 5 creator  J. Michael Straczynski, who wrote what zombie fans refer to as an "Outstanding" screenplay adaptation of the book, was let go just prior to production. The new film was to focus on action and running zombies much to the chagrin of WWZ fans.
• Crew rumors strongly indicated that Marc Forster had no clue about handling large scale action movies. Leaving various seconds and unit directors autonomy to do whatever they felt like. 
• After wrapping and returning to the US the film was declared 'unfinished, but salvageable' by Paramount Pictures.
•  

Zombie Fans hold out hope that the movie can be pulled out of the trash bin and restored to the intended masterpiece of the genre Brad Pitt wanted to make. Sometimes labors of love require a a painful labor.
